The Implant Connection: Where Strength meets Simplicity
Implant prosthetics involves the reconstruction of teeth using metal implants placed inside the bone and prosthetic components positioned above them. The connection between these two parts is fundamentally important because, when it is precise and well designed—both mechanically and biologically—it plays a key role in long-term success. There are a significant number of implant connection types on the market, each with its own advantages and disadvantages, which greatly influence treatment-plan development. The purpose of this lecture is to highlight and compare the main types of connections by examining clinical practice and the scientific literature. In everyday dentistry, this topic is crucial because, although simpler solutions are often available, choosing the most appropriate one can be challenging.
